Day-by-Day Itinerary

Find out how the days will unfold and which activities make up the experience.

Photographic activities

Every session is carefully planned around subject, background, and light. We maintain a calm, flexible pace, returning to the strongest locations under optimal conditions. The aim is a diverse portfolio: portraits, flight shots, birds thriving in their habitats, occasional mammals, landscapes, and small details that narrate the distinctive story of this region.

Daily rhythm in the Delta
Each day follows the quiet rhythm of the Danube Delta, adapted to light and wildlife activity.

  • Morning session: 04:30–10:30 (best light and bird movement)
  • Afternoon session: 15:30–20:00 (golden light and calm water)

What you’ll photograph in the Danube Delta – Europe’s great wetland
Main subjects

  • Dalmatian & White Pelicans
  • Squacco, Night, Purple & Grey Herons, Little Bitterns
  • Egrets, Pygmy Cormorants, Glossy Ibises, Spoonbills
  • Kingfishers, terns, waders
  • White-tailed Eagles & other raptors
  • European Rollers and Bee-eaters on colourful perches

Mammals such as Otters, Golden Jackals, and Raccoon Dogs occasionally appear.

Photo approach
Morning and evening sessions on a custom low-profile photo boat for water-level perspectives
Opportunities for flight, fishing behaviour, interactions, reflections, and silhouettes at sunrise/sunset
Optional environmental storytelling: villages, fishermen, canals, reeds, and calm-water reflections
Ethical mobile hide sessions where appropriate (always placed responsibly, avoiding nesting disturbance and stress)

We move quietly, engine off whenever possible — keeping the Delta peaceful and the bird photography ethical. We may use mobile “doghouse” blinds or small hides where appropriate, always ethically and with the birds’ comfort as the first priority.
The goal is to build a varied portfolio: portraits, flight shots, birds in habitat, mammals, landscapes, and details that tell the story of this unique corner of Europe — a true Danube Delta wildlife photography experience.

Difficulty

Easy to moderate. No demanding hikes. Early mornings are part of the experience, and we spend extended time outdoors (wind, sun, or light rain).

Small group – maximum 6 photographers
Space to move, breathe, and create. No crowded boats, no competition for shooting spots.

Custom low-profile photo boat

Local expertise, real connection
Guided by Florin, who grew up with these waters and steppes, you benefit from decades of field experience, local insight, and deep knowledge of species and behaviour.

Ethical wildlife photography
No baiting, no stress for birds, no forced scenes. We read the light, the wind, and the behaviour, working with what nature offers.

From images to stories
You don’t just return with “nice shots” — you return with a coherent visual story of Romania’s Danube Delta wildlife.
This is a dedicated bird and wildlife photography tour. Schedule, pace, and logistics are designed for photographers.
